Beaumont!

ok so we see how well i've done with keeping up this blog since returning to the states! i think my obsession with having things organized has kept me from writing an update - ive felt that i needed to finish out the europe stuff before i could write a new one, but i dont have time to sit down and remember the details of the last few days in europe, so i haven't written - go figure. i'll get to that eventually.

well long story short, i moved to beaumont, tx just one week after my fabulous last few days in italy. i started a job that is really challenging, and met a lot of nice people here even in the first few weeks. then the hurricanes started - first Gustav, over labor day - and i got my first hurricane evacuation vacation - two days in houston and two days in austin with some friends. i think it rained about half an inch in beaumont. two weeks later, we got hit by hurricane ike and spent another "hurrication" in dallas for a week. this time we got much more than half an inch, and a lot of the areas around beaumont were severely flooded - i had no damage to the apartment though. however, the chemical plant that i work at at exxonmobil didn't fare so well - at least 10 feet of water in the entire plant. so now, in order to get the plant back up and running, we work every single day at the chem plant - one day off every two weeks! we hope to have our first units up and running by the first of december, and the final ones in february. working so much is really tiring, but im learning a ton. more on the job later. outside of work, ive met some great friends, started dating someone, joined a Bible study, and started taking a whole plethora of dance classes...!! i miss my family, but its fun to be on a new adventure. that's the quick summary, annnnd i'll fill in the details later :)
